Abstract

The project aims to approximate Roberto Bolaño's literature to a theoretical framework that investigates the concept of community beyond its usual understanding as a social conformation, basing itself mainly on the perception that the community is unable to accomplish a work as its essence, since inoperativeness presents itself as its condition to exist. The reading of this literary oeuvre written from within the ruins of the modern emancipatory project, alongside Jean-Luc Nancy's, Maurice Blanchot's and Giorgio Agamben's ideas, enables us to glimpse the possibility of the literary community as the only form to be in common. The inoperative force that runs through Bolaño's work - of the detectives who fail in finding the culprits, of the writing and reading that never achieve its completion - is always in risk of closing itself off in paralysis, but it is also through it that the perspective of communication and language as negotiators of the limit of the real emerges.
