Abstract Segestriidae Simon, 1893a currently comprises three genera with 119 described species: Segestria Latreille, 1804, Ariadna Audouin, 1826 and Gippsicola Hogg, 1900. Philogenetically, Segestriidae belongs to the Dysderoidea clade, that comprises also Dysderidae, Orsolobidae and Oonopidae. Philogenetic analysis that used Segestriidae species were aimed to test the monofiletism of Dysderoidea, and the philogenetic relationships between the families that compounds it. There are no studies on cladistic analysis involving the three currently valid Segestriidae genera, as well as the ones synonymized with Ariadna: Pylarus Hentz,1842, Macedonia Hogg, 1900, Segestriella Purcell, 1904 and Citharoceps Chamberlin, 1924. Therefore, we propose a philogenetic analysis between all Segestriidae genera, with the aim of testing each one's monofiletism, review the taxonomical position of the synonymized genera, testing new recently detected lineages, and also provide a more accurate diagnosis for them. | |
