In the last years we observed several discussions concerning the playing in Childhood Education, besides several changes in the legislation which include and emphasize the plays in the pedagogic activities. However, researches in institutions of childhood education indicate that the space of the playing is being reduced in the school context, especially, after the law of anticipation of the education. Thereby, the present project has the goal of investigating the plays and how it is produced in the school environment, considering the institutional conditions and the forms of playing of the child from four to six years, after the application of the "nine year-old law". We will accomplish a qualitative study, based on the referential of the socio-historical theory, in two Municipal Institutions of Childhood Education and Fundamental Teaching, Assis-SP. The field research will be organized in three stages, the first will be the information collection of the institutions, using the filming of the spaces destined to the plays and the accomplishment of interviews with the leader and the technical team, in order to collect data on the material resources and of personnel for the practice of playing; in the second stage we will accomplish the participant observation of the infantile games and of the mediations accomplished by the educator or for the school; and in the third stage, interviews will be accomplished with the children, seeking complemental the registrations of the observations and to obtain information on your preferences for playing. The results will be analyzed through the Analysis of Content proposed by Bardin (2002). With this work we hope to contribute scientifically with the thematic, to form elements directors of future researches and to supply elements that aid in interventions in the studied reality.
