Abstract

The present project has the goal of to increase the studies proposed in the project developed in Brazil (Process nº. FAPESP 2013 / 23046-6), and, in addition, to enrich the data obtained about playing in Childhood Education and Fundamental Teaching, by collecting data in an educational institution Portuguese. The proposal includes a research stage with duration of one year in the Department of Education at the University of Aveiro, Aveiro - Portugal. During the internship abroad, we will collect the data in a Portuguese school, following the same methodology applied in Brazil. In order to investigating the plays and how it is produced in the school environment, by considering the institutional conditions and the forms of playing of the child from four up to six years in Portugal, we will accomplish a qualitative study, based on the referential of the socio-historical theory. The field research will be organized in three stages, the first one will be the information collection of the institutions, with the accomplishment of interviews with the leader and the technical team; in the second stage we will accomplish the participant observation of the infantile games and of the mediations accomplished by the educator or by the school; and in the third stage, interviews will be accomplished with the children. The results will be analyzed through the Analysis of Content proposed by Bardin (2002). In the doctoral stage we will increase our studies with access to several papers and readings. Besides we will participate in study groups on development and learning in early childhood education, coordinated by the internship supervisor Professor, and we intend to participate in academic events in Europe, expanding the reach of our investigation.
