Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of ultrasonic application of anadhesive system in dry and wet etched dentin, immediately and 6-month afterrestoraative procedures. The occlusal enamel of 40 human molars will be removed toexpose a flat of dentine surface, which will be randomized into 4 groups. Theconventional Adper Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (3M) adhesive system will beapplied under manual mode or sonic vibration, in dentin conditioned by phosphoricacid , in dry or wet conditions. The response variables will be the resin-dentin bondstrength (¼TBS) and the nanoleakage in the hybrid and adhesive layers, analyzedimmediately and after 6 months of restorative procedures. According to the factorsin study, the groups will be formed: - GI - Scotchbond applied on moist dentin withmanual application; GII - Scotchbond applied on dry dentin with manual application;GIII - Scotchbond applied on moist dentin with ultrasonic application and GIV -Scotchbond applied on dry dentin with ultrasonic application. Composite build-upswill be constructed incrementally; specimens will be sectioned to obtain resin-dentinsticks with cross-sectional area of 1 mm² and tested as bond strength immediatelyor after 6 months of water storage. Two bonded sticks, from each tooth at eachstorage time, will be immersed in a silver nitrate solution, photo-developed, andanalyzed under scanning electron microscopy. The amount of nanoleakage will bemeasured using the Image J software. The results will be subjected to appropriatestatistical analysis, the level of 5 %.
