Abstract

Hydropower plants causes significant environmental degradation, although they can also be positively characterized as a drivers of intense financial resources, natural resources and labor force. Among the entire life cycle of a hydroelectric project, the implementation is notably one which generated greater disturbance in the functioning of local environmental system, especially in localities directly affected by the project - the locales that receive the physical plant of hydropower, powerhouse and reservoir. It is possible to consider that even during the implementation, the disturbances on the local environmental system affect local development itself. In this sense, this research project aims to assess the occurrence of disturbances in the disturbances in the developing performances of municipalities affected by dams, arising frome installation of these projects.
