Abstract

The veterinary pharmaceutical industry market in the world and even in Brazil, has shown significant growth over the last few years, highlighting the importance of using these substances in different animal production systems and advising on the need for inspection of products intended human consumption with regard to the issue of food security. Due to the lack of veterinary medicines properly regulated in Brazil to be used in aquaculture production systems, it is suspected that producers are resorting to the use of veterinary drugs on the market, however, regulated for use in other animal species such as chickens and pigs, for example. Thus, this project aims to contribute to the realization of residual depleted studies of drugs already regulated for use in aquaculture in other countries, with the aim of estimating the whithdraw period for mainly fish species grown commercially in Brazil. Consistently, researchers have been working to improve the analytical methods in order to obtain reliable results even in trace concentrations of these substances (µg/kg). In this way, this project will also contribute to the development and validation of analytical methods to be applied for the determination of drugs to compose studies residual depletion in fish.
