Abstract

This project aims to evaluate changes in rumen fermentation, intestinal flow of fatty acids, microbial protein synthesis, digestibility coefficient of association of oil and glycerin in diets for beef cattle. In experiment 1 will be held to standardize the techniques used to quantify the microbial community, which will evaluate methods of sampling and preparation of samples of rumen contents and extraction of metagenomic DNA for the purpose of adapting a methodology for using the qPCR technique in quantification of ruminal microbiota. In experiment 2 will be assessed the changes in microbial populations with the extraction method selected in Experiment 1 and biohydrogenation of unsaturated fatty acids, and rumen fermentation parameters of 4 diets : a diet without adding glycerin or oil, a diet with inclusion glycerin ; diet with addition of oil and glycerin combination with a diet -oil emulsion. Will be used eight Nellore steers with an average weight of 480 kg and an average age of 30 months, cannulated in the rumen and duodenum. The animals will be distributed in a completely randomized with two 4x4 Latin squares. (AU)
