Abstract The aim is to consolidate and explore a "rustic" interpretation of the works of Sextus Empiricus, against known rival interpretations such as Oswaldo Porchat's and Robert Fogelin's. The objectives are, on the one hand, to further develop a certain rustic interpretation of Sextus, already outlined in previous works, via the scrutiny of Sextus' texts, and, on the other hand, to pursue the hypothesis that, from such an interpretation of Sextus, one can extract a radical scepticism, relevant to the contemporary philosophical debate. Thus, matters such as the notion of "metaphysics", the Philosophy of Language, the question of the legitimacy of the History of Philosophy and the Philosophy of Science will be addressed in light of the radical scepticism found in Sextus.
