Abstract

The hair dyeing process is complex and involves multiple components with different functions, producing an effluent with a high organic load and questionable toxicity/ mutagenicity. This project aims to continue the FAPESP process 2012/18357-0 that investigates the application of boron-doped and Sb2S3 modified TiO2 nanotubes (TiO2 NTs) applied in the photoelectrocatalytic treatment of temporary hair dye. Basic Red 51, Basic Blue 99 and Acid Yellow 1 were chosen as hair dyes models for treatment, owing different functional groups. We also intend to study the combination of photoelectrocatalysis technique with ozonation for wastewater treatment of highly colored beauty salon. Thus, we intend to develop an alternative methodology of high efficiency for hair dyes and salon effluent treatment in comparison with standard techniques, since the literature does not present any work of combination of photoelectrocatalysis with ozonation.
