Abstract

Inhibitors of HIV-1 protease are designed to, generally, act specifically on this enzyme class, characterized by its high affinity and high complementarity to the catalytic site of the protein, intrinsically competing with the natural substrates. The goal of antiretroviral therapy is therefore to slow the progression of immunodeficiency and restore, as much as possible, immunity, increasing the length and quality of life of people living with HIV. Considering the validity and costs of these inhibitors of HIV-1 protease for the Unified Health System (SUS), the project aims to contribute to the production of these drugs in the country and also to study synthetic routes using the "green chemistry" to lessen the environmental impact of production.
