Abstract

The project involves collaboration between ITA, IAE/CTA, UNICAMP, FEG/ Unesp, EESC/USP, Poli/USP, INPE, IEE, IPT and EMBRAER seeking technological innovations in aviation industry. The same includes validation for aeronautical use of new technologies, processes, methods and criteria, so as actualize the development cycle of new structural solutions in composites, covering the project, calculation, manufacturing and testing, with demonstration and validation of the benefits and limitations. Technological development aims at obtaining responses and creation of effective solutions and reliable, through empowerment in developing different composites in aircraft structures, through new technologies, seeking the structural aspects, materials, systems and continued airworthiness. As part of the project for which the UNICAMP and scientific initiative are responsible, is the study of the direct effects of lightning on aircraft, which involves testing with a thunder similar in the composites representing the fuselage of the aircraft electrical discharges, to obtain data and studies on the physical characteristics of the materials after discharge. The use of composite materials in Embraer products is expected to achieve weight reduction of approximately 10% to 15% and recurring cost of the order of 10% for structural components, when compared to the current metal equivalent. In general, the above described is applicable to each of the technologies to be developed, previously selected: automated lamination processes; infusion processes of thermoset polymer matrix; joining processes through fasteners and / or adhesives via composite structures how metal structures.
