Abstract The irregular strip packing problem is a common variant of cutting stock problems and is applied in many industries. The problems consists of cutting irregular items from a rectangular board of fixed width and infinite length, aiming to reduce the used board length. Since it is a combinatorial optimization problem, just few exact methods were proposed to solve it. Furthermore, within these methods just one uses a solution method based on constraint logical programming. In this context, the objective of this research project is to investigate new exact solution methods based on constraint logical programming in order to solve the irregular strip packing problem.
