Abstract

This project proposes the construction and characterization of a family of Raman fiber lasers to generate ultra-short pulses using saturable absorbers based on graphene. Techniques such as "Wet transfer", "Roll-to-roll" and "Dry transfers" will be used to transfer exfoliated and/or CVD graphene to optical fibers. Characteristics of non-resonant gain of Raman scattering and intrinsic properties of carbon in the construction of lasers that operate on a passive coupling of modes (mode-locking) on any transmission band will be explored.
