Abstract

The research aims to study what is the understanding of "humanitarian military intervention" in diplomatic discourse of Brazil and India, and to what extent this conception guided the actions of these countries in different episodes of use of force for humanitarian purposes. Based on the finding that the tradition of thought and action of these countries in peacekeeping operations justifies the study of its history and contribution to the issue. The research focuses on the pronouncements about the justification and legitimacy of interventions. (AU)
