Abstract

Given the complexity and the differences of approach about the issue of religion on Hegel´s Philosophy, we try on this research to clarify some main points about the operation of religion inside the hegelian thought. We intend to start with the notion of representation, once it´s taken as the element on which religion manifests on/for the spirit. We are brought to believe, for some parts of his texts, that we are able to have two different interpretations about the nature of representation: one in a more strict meaning, that concerns to a figure of the theoric subjective spirit, analyzed on the Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences, on the Philosophy of Spirit, and other on a wider meaning, exposed on the Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion , that would not concern only to a form of the theoric knowledge, but to an obstruction on the spirit´s way of exposing itself. We´ll consider if it´s really possible to make this dual interpretation, expecting that the study of this notion can enable us to understand better other important issues on Hegel´s Philosophy of religion, mainly the immediate knowledge of the absolute, the faith, and the proofs on the existence of God. We believe that only this way we´ll be able to have a clearer vision about what religion means on hegelian system, and what exactly distinguish it from the other forms of the absolute spirit: Art and Philosophy.
