Abstract

The distribution of pentatomid species recorded in the State of São Paulo will be study using spatial models, in order to predict areas of endemism in the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest, two biogeographical provinces with areas included in SP. The models will be established from the available records of locations and environmental characteristics such as temperature, rainfall and topography, to predict the distribution of species. Distribution data available in the literature will be gathered, mapped and analyzed with the softwares Quantum GIS and MaxEnt. The sofwares VNDM and NDM will be used to define possible areas of endemism, based on data generated from the spatial models used. This work will provide important information for studies on ecology, evolution and biogeography of this important group of insects, as well as to identify potential priority areas for conservation in the studied areas, considered global biodiversity hotspots and in constant threat.
