Abstract

In 2014 ethnomathematics as a research program celebrates thirty years since the creation of its political space in mathematics education: the pronouncement of Ubiratan D'Ambrosio, in 1984, at the 5th International Congress on Mathematical Education, Adelaide, Australia (D' AMBROSIO, 1984). Taking this anniversary into account, this research project was designed to be performed during a post-doctorate research at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona under the supervision of Professor Núria Planas, aiming to investigate trends and concerns of research in ethnomathematics after this thirty-year period of maturity. For this, we intend to analyze the messages exchanged between the years 2009 and 2013 in the electronic discussion list of the International Study Group on Ethnomathematics, understanding it as a locus of virtual meeting between researchers in Ethnomathematics. Methodologically, we assume a phenomenological approach (BICUDO 2009 , 2009a , MARTINS; BICUDO, 1989), in which we will select Discursive Significant Units through our guideline question "What are the trends and concerns of ethnomathematics research announced in the electronic mailing list of the Interntional Study Group on Ethnomathematics?", analyzing the possible convergences through phenomenological reductions. Then we will articulate broaden categories that will be discussed along with study and research groups in which this project's proponent will take part during his post-doctorate. Parallel to the research project, we will seek to establish networks of contact with Spanish researchers whose concern turns to the relationship between mathematics and culture. (AU)
