Abstract

Brazil is one of the fastest growing in number of articles published in international journals countries, according to the Journal Citation Records (JCR). The great challenge is that Brazilian trade journals are cited and therefore gain more visibility. One way to invest in this visibility is through communication channels that expand the dissemination of the journal and its contents for communications professionals and society in general. The international specialized magazines that enjoy academic prestige use many strategies of communication that keeps gifts end up on the news and attracting more readers and prospective authors to publish in its pages. Brazilian journals have not paid attention to the importance of communication to the broader than specialized audience, are still underrepresented in the media. This project aims to expand Bag Science Media and improve communication strategies of scientific journals published by the University of São Paulo (USP) in the area of biomedical issue is of great public and media interest and publications that have weight, tradition and credibility. The goal is to improve channels of communication and strategies of existing Brazilian scientific journals and create new channels with the media and society in general. 5 of biomedical journals in the areas that are traditional (by time of publication and have credibility in the academic community) or already enjoy stability by being indexed in SciELO (Virtual Electronic Library Academic) in international databases (WoS, Scopus will be selected, for ex.) or are in the higher strata of quails journals (between A1 and B2). This project will produce news and newspaper articles and press releases to be published in ComCiência (www.comciencia.br), publication of Labjor/Unicamp, in SIBI USP magazine website, and are released into the channels of communication existing in USP (Radio USP, USP Agency, USP Journal and News Agency University, for example). The expectation is that this project may cause a change in the culture of scientific communication between publishers and encourage other publications also broaden the dialogue with society. (AU)
