Abstract

Endophytic fungi are involved in production of compounds of biotechnological interest as novel bioactive with applications in medicine, industry and agriculture compounds. These microorganisms are important candidates for the control of plant pathogens, including fungi of the genus Colletotrichum, which are considered one of the major phytopathogen of the world, causing significant economic damage to various crops. Guarana (Paullinia cupana var. Sorbilis (Mart.) Duke) is native from Amazon and is a major product of the states of Amazonas and Bahia. The culture of guarana is economically and socially important to Brazil. Considering the possible control of diseases through the use of bioactive compounds produced by microorganisms, this project aims to prospecting chemical and biologically compounds produced by endophytic fungi of guarana with antifungal activity to Colletotrichum sp. For the development of the project will be selected two strains of endophytic fungi with promising activity. The strains are grown in specific culture medium and produced metabolites are separated and isolated by chromatographic methods and identified by spectroscopic methods. All extracts and fractions obtained in biological assays will be evaluated against mycelial growth "in vitro" of Colletotrichum sp.
