Abstract

The climate is crucial factor to the agriculture. When there are changes in the climate, extreme situations relating water and temperature are determinants to agriculture production. Food production, such as beans, will be threatened if cultivars are not developed to have more resistance in drought and high temperatures in regions where the production is already established and they are important to Brazilian population. Bank of phenotypic and genotypic data generated in the area of genetic resources assists in choice of parents with desirable characteristics, having allelic variability and yield promising segregating populations. Interesting group are accesses from group Mulatinho (745 accesses) due the environment of cultive where predominate low fertility soils and warm and drought climate, such as North of Minas Gerais and Northeast of Brazil. An initial screening will be accomplished with 100 accesses that will be selected with the wanted characteristics for kind of grain mulatinho. Selected accesses, 90 tolerant and ten susceptible, will be evaluated with another detailed tests according the wanted characteristics. Of the 100 accesses tested and analyzed, the top 30 will be selected, ie, the 30 accesses that stand out the most wanted characteristic in each kind of grain and their contrasting. These thematic collections with their contrasting will be evaluated and characterized biochemically, physiologically and agronomically more detail inherent in each characteristic sought in both crops of smallholder farmers and family-based farming as business.
