Tabu Search algorithm applied to optimize power capacitor models fed with distorted voltage waveforms

Abstract

This project aims to determine a behavioral model of the electrical current in polypropylene power capacitors when fed by distorted waveforms and purely sinusoidal waveforms. The model will be based on electrical circuits that represents their behavior under ideal and non-ideal conditions. Moreover, to estimate the values of the model's parameters of, a Tabu Search will be used. From the use of this algorithm, we expect to find the parameters of a model to better estimate the values of the current absorbed by the power capacitors. Considering this, there is the possibility of avoiding the allocation of power capacitors in points/regions that represent risks to the equipment and its installation. So, in order to guide apply the Tabu Search to reach the desired results, some essays with two polypropylene power capacitors (all-film and metalized) were done. Thus, the measurements of currents (fundamental and harmonics from 2nd to 25th orders) were done according to national and international standards and recommendations. Therefore, we intend to employ Tabu Search to determine the optimized values of the free parameters used by the power capacitors computational models. This way, the error of estimation will be computed for all measured currents in order to be minimized. (AU)
