Abstract

The purpose of this Project is to study lime stabilization of soil (I) to understand the importance of the initial time period in the strength increasing, (II) to indicate in which pavement layer it can be used soil-lime mixtures in function of performance gained and (III) to comprehend foreign soil-lime procedures and to study if it is possible the enforcement of national soils. Thus, it will be developed an experimental program that considers two types of soils (non lateritic clayey and lateritic clayey soils), design of soil and hydrated lime and mechanical property monitoring (tensile and compression strength) during a certain period of time. It is expected that findings will be able to indicate the potential type of soil to lime stabilization, to comprehend the importance of period of time into pozzolanic actions to strength gains and to observe if there is an ideal period of time to significant strength gain.
