Abstract

Due to the condition of the grapevine it's a twining plant with a climb habit, it's necessary a support structure to conduct the growing branches, and allow a good breakthrough of light to canopy and get the balance between leaf area and fruit production. In Sao Paulo's state, the Niagara Rosada grapevine it's the principal table grape variety, supported by pergola trellis and vertical trellis system, which are the most common in this region. However, farmers of different regions of São Paulo have been testing the adoption of Y shaped training system. The use of different support structure suggest an differential response of plants depending on the arrangement of leaves to sunlight and microclimate that surround the canopy, which change it´s photosynthetic capability and consequently its growth, production and quality of the bunches. For this reason become important to evaluate the physiology and production of grapevine in different support structure, to provide necessary information to the grape growers better handle the vines to increase productivity and quality of grapes. Thus, this project aims to characterize the physiological and productivity responses of grapevine Niagara Rosada with different ages and systems of conduction from pergola trellis, vertical trellis system and Y shaped training system.
