Abstract

It is known that agroforestry systems are considered currently in Brazil innovative and, information on the performance and carcass quality and meat from animals raised in these systems are scarce, since it is considered a complex system deployment, which still need to overcome economic barriers such as the need for initial investment and operational barriers such as the need for technical knowledge. In this context, this project is important to the scientific/academic community and especially for producers of our region, which the new information will be given step. Thus, this work will be developed in order to evaluate the performance in finishing, carcass characteristics and meat from cattle raised in agrosilvopastoral system. The experimental design is randomized blocks, with 3 treatments and 4 replicates per treatment. For the experiment 12 animals are used per treatment (3 animals per paddock/ treatment X 4 replicates per treatment), totaling 36 animals (12 animals per treatment X 3 treatments) continuously created and subjected to three grazing treatments: Treatment 1: Integrating Agriculture livestock; Treatment 2: Agrosilvopastoral system with eucalyptus trees planted in single rows; Treatment 3: Agrosilvopastoral system with eucalyptus trees planted in triple lines. During the trial period will be joined animal performance through the average daily gain and weight per hectare and still be measured, loin eye area (LEA) and backfat thickness (SFT) by ultrasound and at the end of the experiment the animals will be slaughtered and during slaughter carcases shall be weighed for subsequent calculation of the income thereof. Then samples of Longissimus dorsi be removed for further analysis of LEA, SFT, marbling, glycogen, pH, meat color and fat, shear force, cooking loss of weight, chemical composition, cholesterol, collagen, fatty acids profile fatty, microbiological analysis and sensory analysis. All data will be subjected to statistical analyzes using SAS 9.2 software for the statistical analysis of variance and Tukey's test at a significance level of 5%. (AU)
