Abstract

T. vivax is responsible by economic losses in livestock worldwide. Infections in ruminant herds have been occurred with increasing frequency in Brazil. However, during the trypanosomiasis course there are fluctuations in parasitemia or aparasitemic intervals, which makes the diagnosis pof this disease hard to do. The "apparently healthy" animals are responsible for the disease introduction in non-endemic areas. Therefore, it becomes essential to use more accurate tools for the diagnosis of this disease such as serological and molecular methods. The aim of this working is use LAMP and PCR molecular tests as tools to confirm parasitological cure of goats experimentally infected by T. vivax following treatment with diaceturate of diaminazeno or hydrochloride of isometamidium. It is expected that the LAMP test will be more sensitive than conventional PCR for detection of T. vivax DNA. The results may contribute to the development of control actions in disease expansion areas. (AU)
