Abstract

The cinema (and what is not considered cinema but audiovisual) as well as photography is a mechanical kind of art, meaning that to be effective in its execution needs a mechanism that answers the technical and creative expectations of the artist. But the physical and conceptual construction of those objects had not been possible without the constant dialogue between different areas of knowledge; this way, scientific and abstract processes, as well as technological and artistic processes, contributed to the evolution of all the arts as we know them, and today are revealed themselves as symbiotic elements responding to the researcher, or in this case to an artist´s need for constant experimentation.This investigation presents itself as a complex process of research/creation whose operative answer lies in the interdisciplinary field and its articulation occurs in the plastic creation. This project proposes the construction of new audiovisual devices through experimentation with pre-cinematic mechanisms and the already existing contemporary appropriations, not only needing the fine arts component to acquire meaning and a theoretical/practical context, but also internationalization in order to evaluate the creation process and to ensure that the results are appropriate and consistently enter in contemporary artistic practices.As a key component of the research Kinetoscopes, devices and audiovisual images, I present this project for the development of a completely experimental process aimed at the design and construction of some audiovisual devices, with the academic support of the Master of Fine Arts (in the research line Contemporary Practice and New Media) of the University of Paris VIII.
