Abstract

The aim of the study will be to evaluate the effects of nucleotides and glutamate in turnover of liver, pancreas, kidney, spleen, brain and, muscles (Psoas major and Masseter) in piglet diets. Eighty seven piglets weanling at 21 days old will be randomly assigned in a complete block design in a 2x2 fatorial arrangement of treatments (two levels of nucleotides: 0 and 0.1% and, two levels of glutamate: 0 and 1%). At the beginning of the experimental period (day 0) three piglets will be slaughtered (prior to the diet-switch) and, on days 3, 6, 9, 14, 21, 35 and, 49 after weaning, three piglets per treatment will be slaughtered. The ´13C measurements of liver, pancreas, kidney, spleen, brain and, muscles will be analysed by isotope-ratio mass spectrometer and, the isotopic values will be compared in accordance with the first order exponential equation by software package Origin® 6.0.
