Abstract

This project aims to analyze the strategies of socioeconomic reproduction enthralled by family farmers of rural districts Córrego da Onça and Airport, located, respectively, in the northern and southern portions of the city of Presidente Prudente-SP, compared to recent spatial dynamics mobilized by the expansion the urban fabric of the rural area. The city of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo located in the Southwest, characterized, since its occupation process, to reproduce the characteristics of the Brazilian agrarian structure, with the presence of large estates in large territorial extensions. With the passage of time, the city has undergone profound changes in its productive structure and land, from the end of the 1950s, marked by the substitution of crops for beef cattle, causing intense changes in social and economic frameworks of rural districts, and affecting small farmers. Given this situation, family farming is of great importance in the city, creating strategies to remain in rural areas through the establishment of new forms of production, work and life. In this sense, we seek from this project, the profiles of family farmers of these two districts, the activities developed for the training of family income and the strategies undertaken to reproduce in rural areas, and to assess the influence and the results produced by the expansion of the urban fabric in these areas, driven by speculation. We should also understand the alternatives faced by family farmers facing this reality, and what are its prospects for the future in these locations. (AU)
