Abstract

This paper proposes to study the applications of the residues of civil construction (C&D materials) in housing production of social interest. The construction of millions of new units is absolutely necessary, because there are a high deficit of houses. In the most of times, the families most in need are those who has the lower incomes. So, it becomes evident the need of public policies effective and alternative forms of construction of these units. In this context, the civil construction is able to act actively in decrease the demand, producing these dwellings. However, it is fundamental the development of new technologies in this process, since the civil construction sector plays a fundamental role in the economy of the country and the impacts caused by their activities on the environment are significant, particularly in relation to the generation of waste. This occurs throughout the production chain, and it is in construction activities and demolition that the volume of waste generated is more expressive. The RCC have great potential for reuse in constructive processes through recycling or reuse, which certainly will lead to building a more sustainable patterns of production.
