Abstract

The anthropogenic activity has increased alarmingly, due to development, and increasingly are released mixtures of different substances in the environment, increasing levels of environmental contamination. The development leads to the production of products such as fuels, and among them there is ethanol. With the increased production of ethanol in the culture of sugar cane, and consequently, the use of pesticides, one of which is diuron (N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-N, Ndimetilureia), widely used for combating weeds in various crops, including sugar cane. Diuron can be degraded in other products, mostly by microbial means (biodegradable) and they 3,4-dichloroaniline (3,4-DCA), 3 - (3,4-dichlorophenyl)-3-methylurea (DCPMU) and 3,4-diclorofenilureia (DCPU). Some substances such as alquilfenólicos polyethoxylates (APE), nonylphenols (NPE) and octylphenol ethoxylate (OPE) are used in combination with diuron to increase its solubility. These substances can cause estrogenic effects in fish and can be detected by the concentration of plasma steroid hormones (testosterone, 11-cetotestosterona and 17b-estradiol). In addition to estrogen effects, other effects can be detected by analysis of biomarkers from contamination. Therefore, the project aims to study the deleterious effects of diuron and its main metabolites of biodegradation, alone and in combination with alkylphenols (AP) at different concentrations in Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) exposed for seven days. To evaluate the effects will be analyzed the following parameters: EROD, PROD, BROD, glutathione S-transferase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione-6-phosphate, lipid peroxidation and oxidative DNA damage, comet assay , micronucleus test, and the levels of vitelogenia and of the hormones 11-cetotestosterona, 17b - estradiol and testosterone levels in plasma and finally enzyme activity of steroid hormone metabolism 17b-estradiol dehydrogenase and aromatase.
