Abstract

The growing interest in renewable source of materials with unique properties enabled the use of products and waste from agriculture in several areas of research, such as in the production of polymer nanocomposites. The use of waste from agriculture can reduce the cost of the final product, and promote a rationalized destination to these waste, thus adding value. Researches has explored the possibility to extracting cellulose nanostructures from plant fibers. Cellulosic nanostructure have rod-like morphological aspect, and are formed by single crystals, small and elongated, with high stiffness, surface area and crystallinity index. This project propose use of cellulosic nanostructures combined with different nanomaterials (organics and inorganics), aiming at the development of sensors to electronic tongue and to devices that employ polymeric materials nanostructured as sensitive layer. In this way, will be investigated the combination of cellulose nanocrystals (Nc) and silver nanoparticles (Ag) in polyamide-6 electrospun fibers (PA6), wich is a polymer compatible with cellulose and usually applied in electrosppining of polymers in solution.
