Abstract

Pain is considered subjective and personal, characterized as a multidimensional experience, diversifying on the quality and sensory intensity, being affected by affective-motivational variables. Pain, especially chronic, affects all areas of functioning, thus depending, of a physical, mental and social approach. Among the forms of pain coping, religiosity and spirituality have been shown to be important tools for patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. It is known that religious activity is the first or second coping strategy used against recurrent pain. Thus, the aim of this study was to verify the relationship between pain perception, attitudes towards pain, the level of spirituality and daily spiritual experience of chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis. This is a correlational study, cross-sectional, which will be held in a unit Renal Replacement Therapy with adults (people aged between 18 and 59 years) and elderly (persons aged 60 years or more), in patients with CKD hemodialysis. During data collection, the first contact with participants will be by presenting the objectives of the study and request signing the consent form. After the consent instruments to characterize the subjects will be applied, the Multidimensional Assessment of Pain Scale (EMADOR), the Scale for Parents and Spirituality Pinto-Ribeiro (EEPR-P) and Spiritual Experience Scale Night (EEED). With regard to ethical issues, the project will I forward to the Ethics Committee in Research of the Federal University of São Carlos, fully respecting the Resolution 466/2012. (AU)
