Abstract

This research project aims to expand the studies around Marcel Proust, one of the main authors of my master's project. Through this internship proposal, some necessary points of my research will be studied, such as fashion, the press of the nineteenth century and the historical and cultural aspects of the Belle Époque. It is important to show that these aspects influenced Marcel Proust's texts, but also João do Rio's articles and works, the Brazilian author approached by my master's project. Therefore, it is also necessary to analyze the manuscripts of the French author, especially the content and structure of the social articles published in the newspapers of his time. We submit then a plan of studies of two months at the Institut Des Textes et Modernes Manuscrits (ITEM) at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nathalie Mauriac-Dyer, responsible for Proust's team.
