Abstract

This project aims to research the problematic relationship between scientific thought and philosophy in Nietzsche. On the one hand, the author considers it impossible to separate science and philosophy, and, using the particular sciences, he tries to support his philosophy scientifically; on the other hand, he deeply criticizes the scientific thought from both an epistemological and an axiological perspective, and even censures the intention of supporting the philosophy scientifically. If the research on Nietzsche's sources has demonstrated the crucial role of dialogue with the particular sciences in his philosophy, it seems necessary, in the current context of Nietzsche-Forschung, to scrutinize the ambiguous character of the author's considerations on the relation between scientific thought and philosophy, trying, beyond the content of his divergent positions, to investigate the nuances and presuppositions lying behind them.
