Abstract One of the oldest forms of medical practice is the use of medicinal plants with phytochemicals compounds. In previous study, the protective effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Galactia glaucescens leaf was studied against Crotalus durissus terrificus venom and it was concluded that it prevents in vitro the neuromuscular blockade caused by the rattlesnake venom. Later, two phytochemicals from Galactia glaucescens extract were isolated, named here as Substance A and Substance B. The objective of this project are to evaluate the neutralizing capacity of the hydroalcoholic extract as these both isolated substances against the neuromuscular blockade induced by Bothrops jararacussu venom. The tests will be made in phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparations isolated from mice (ex vivo) and the results will be obtained by conventional miographic technique. (AU) | |
