Abstract

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) affects mainly patients between the 5th and 6th decades of life, being relatively rare in the young (d40 years). There is no report about the protein expression of RASSF1A and K-ras in OSCC in this group. The aim of this study is evaluate the protein expression of RASSF1A and K-ras by Tissue Microarray (TMA) technique. Forty primary OSCC from patients with d40 years of age treated in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology, Hospital AC Camargo of Sao Paulo, from 1990 to 2007, will be assessed. These cases will be compared to 40 controls selected from patients aged e 50 who have tumors in similar clinical stage and topography. In both groups, the results will be correlated with clinical features and prognosis. The variables between groups compared using the x2 or Fisher exact test. The survival analyzes will be assessed by the Kaplan Meier and proportional hazards model of Cox.
