Abstract

Auditory long latency potential (LLAEP) is a procedure that examines the electrical changes that occur in the peripheral and central auditory systems in the presence of acoustic or electric stimulation. It allows the measurement of neuroelectric activity in each area of the auditory pathway. The heart rate variability (HRV) is a method recognized by the literature that analyzes the cardiac autonomic regulation. Both systems are related cognitive system. In this sense, it raises the possibility that some components of LLAEP may be related to the HRV indices during mental tests. Objective: To analyze the association between the components of LLAEP and indices of HRV during mental tests. Method: The study will be conducted in adults, healthy young women between 20 and 30 years old. The subject will remain at rest 10 minutes and then held for 5 minutes a mental test, which perform additions and subtractions mathematical presenting progressive degrees of difficulty, prior to testing LLAEP. During this period, the HRV will be monitored through the heart rate monitor (Polar RX800CX). N1 (P100), P2 (P200), N2 (N200) and P3 (P300): The following components will be analyzed LLAEP. The Pearson correlation test for parametric distributions and Spearman correlation test for nonparametric distributions will be applied to assess the association between the components of LLAEP and HRV indices.
