Abstract

Investigating interactions established between mother and baby, from studies using footage or systematic observations in experimental situations or in natural environment, may help understand variables that affect the dyad interaction. The internship is part of the research "Temperament and prematurity: influences on mother-infant interaction". The internship aims to equip the researcher in order to analyze data from the mother-infant interaction footage, from learning how to use analytical protocols of children behavior expressed in Still-Face and Child-Adult Relationship Experimental Index. The one-month internship will be carried out by professor doctor Pedro Nuno de Azevedo Lopes dos Santos's team at University of Porto, in Porto, Portugal. Analysis of 20 mother-infant interactions footage is predicted. University of Porto database footage and the researcher's data collected in Brazil during the internship will be used for the analysis. The internship will be carried out in four stages: 1) study of protocol analysis of mother-infant interactions; 2) repeated footage analysis in order to reach 80% of reliability rate among other researchers, who are experienced in observation of mother-infant interactions and use of these protocols; 3) data gathering monitoring of Veronica Aparecida Pereira's postdoc course; she is co-advisor of this research and doctor Pedro Lopes's advisee, and 4) analysis of data collected in Brazil by the researcher. Upon returning to Brazil after the data gathering end, the researcher will carry out training with observers who will assist her in data reliability computation. By the internship end, learning the analysis protocol of mother-infant interaction, used by the linked research, is hoped. (AU)
