Abstract

The city of Indaiatuba is located in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas (MRC), and has a high rate of urbanization result of transformations in Brazilian urban structure from the mid-twentieth century, notably present in the region, which contributed to a high population growth and industrialization process. These factors contributed to the sharp expansion of urban sprawl in the city and therefore the advancement over the natural environment, causing environmental impacts and also social. The central objective of this research project is the mapping of Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) in the city of Indaiatuba (SP) and subsequent analysis of land use (with an emphasis on urban area) to reveal their current uses and establish the adequacy or inadequacy with current legislation, that is, with the new Forest Code, Law nº 12,651 of May 25, 2012, pointing out the main environmental impacts and correlating with the urban expansion that occurred from the 1970s. Is intended perform analysis based on geotechnologies, systematic literature review and fieldwork. Thus, the work intends to contribute to a better understanding of the environmental situation in the APP, helping to a better territorial planning and better environmental management.
