Abstract

Hydrotalcites or Layered Double Hydroxides (HDL) are anionic clays containing carbonate anions intercalated between layered double hydroxides of magnesium and aluminum. With calcination of hydrotalcites and the consequent release of CO2, there is the formation of mixed metal oxides, which have pores in the nanometer scale and can act as catalysts in transesterification reactions because their Lewis acid and base properties. Therefore, the aim of this project is to study the synthesis of mixed metal oxides doped with metal with different ionic radius, such as La, Ce, Yb and Lu that will influence the active sites of the catalyst, which can improve the catalytic activity. Thus, the synthesis of hydrotalcites by co-precipitation will be held, followed by calcination to form oxides. In this context, we seek to perfect a process technically satisfactory in terms of high catalytic activity, stability to leaching of elements and high surface area. (AU)
