Validation and translation of the English Questionnaire Uterine Fibroid Symptom and Quality of Life to Portuguese language

Abstract

Uterine leiomyomata is the most common gynecological pathology in reproductive age. The evaluation of the quality of life of these women is extremely important as it helps in choosing the best treatment for this disease. However, there is only a specific questionnaire for uterine leiomyomas that aims to evaluate this concept and is available only in English. Our goal is to translate and validate the questionnaire Uterine Fibroid Symptom and Quality of Life (UFS-QOL) for the Portuguese. A prospective, observational study, with a minimum sample of 100 women with uterine leiomyoma, which will carry out the treatment in the Gynecological Surgery Clinic and 50 women in the control group (Outpatient Clinic of Urogynecology) will be held. They will answer the UFS-QOL questionnaire translated into Portuguese by two sworn translators and analysis of a team of researchers in the area. A pilot test will be applied to make small adjustments to the translation. It is hoped that with these results, we have a questionnaire to assess adequately the quality of life of women with uterine leiomyoma in Brazil. (AU)
