Abstract

The goal of this project is to disseminate the actions, tools, technologies and research results compiled and developed by the Rede Latino-Americana de Estudos sobre Vigilância (Latin American Network of Surveillance, Technology and Society Studies - LAVITS). The Network, established in 2009, promotes the exchange of knowledge, projects and actions among researchers, activists and artists interested in the reflection and promotion of a public debate on the increasing monitoring and surveillance devices nowadays, especially within Latin America. The dissemination of the Network's activities have already been provided by Programa José Reis de Incentivo ao Jornalismo Científico - Mídia Ciência twice, in 2011 and 2014, and this project seeks to continue the work. The need to communicate the Network's research becames even more evident before the recent leak of documents about the mass surveillance apparatus headed by the National Security Agency (NSA), from the United States. In this scenario, this project is focused to disseminate the actions and researches conducted by LAVITS, especially in technology development of a playable system that will map the video surveillance apparatus throughout the city of Campinas (SP), to be created using free software. The activities of this dissemination project will be carried out in order to communicate researches, activities and debates using news and reports to be published in the ComCiência Magazine, in LAVITS' website, in social networks and within the gaming software platform itself.
