Abstract

The clade "Pareuptychia" is a group of mostly Neotropical butterflies distribution being from the sea level to 2600 meters, offers a valuable opportunity to study the biogeographic history of Neotropical low and highland, a clade that has its greatest diversity in the lower and mountain rainforests. The group is classified into Euptychiina one of the most diverse subtribe of Satyrinae, the subtribe has ambiguities in their phylogenetic study, problems to recover the monophyly of the group, low support for the major clades, polytomies in various genera and problems with definition of species with the presence of complexes of cryptic species. The diversity of Euptychiina, its importance in the assemblies of neotropical butterflies, the morphological homogeneity of species and difficult differentiation are points that prove species and genera study of subtribe. In this project will be studied Euptychiina and more specifically the clade "Pareuptychia" from the phylogenetic, biogeographic and delimitation of species perspective, where with the use of concatenated morphological and molecular characters, we attempt to resolve the monophyly of the subtribe and clade "Pareuptychia" establish the genera of the clade, their biogeographical history and delimit the species of Pareuptychia.
