Abstract Recent works have show association of the Gaucher Disease (GD) with Parkinson's Disease (PD), where GBA mutation carriers present a higher risk of to present Parkinsonism. However, the mechanism underlying this associations is still unknown. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) are a valuable experimental system in which to studying neurodegenerative conditions with more complex genetic predisposition, as well as metabolic diseases known to have familial predispositions but for which the genetic contribution remains unexplained. Our goal is to develop iPSC from patients with PD, carriers and non-carriers of mutations in the GBA gene, in order to study their neurogenesis in vitro. (AU) | |
