Abstract

Parent's Evaluation of Aural/oral performance of Children (PEACH) was developed to evaluate how children are listening, and how the children's communications are after being implanted the hearing aids or cochlear implant. For answering the protocol, it is necessary the child's observation by the parents, since children are not capable to note if the use of implant are being successful or not. Objective: evaluating the effectiveness of amplification in children through systematic observations and answering by PEACH, an audiological assessment with and without the implant, and observation of data log, also compare the benefits of PEACH in the children's family. Method: ten children of both sexes, one to seven years old with loss hearing and hearing aids users will be invited to join the study. After one week of observation, will be applied to parents the protocol, to help with the answers of this protocol will be a group with parents of children selected, which happen scenarios that have been suggested in the protocol, and also will be done an audiological assessment in the children with and without the implant. The data log will be observed for check who far this children use the implant, and after six months, the process will be done again.
