Abstract

In this study we aim to identify the poetic and technical characteristics of the emerging video form from the 1990s in their relationship with television, cinema and the emergence of computer images. For this, we will use a method of deductive hypothetical research and historical and comparative approach method. We will forward a literature in the library of the University of Glasgow, and an iconographic survey and analysis of video works from the collection of the Centre of Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Glasgow, for comparison with the collections studied in Brazil and thus proof or refutation of research hypotheses presented in the research project in the country. For these analyzes we be based in traditional studies on the video with authors like Raymond Bellour, Arlindo Machado, Lev Manovich, Christine Mello and Michael Rush and will establish parallels in terms of comparison with the new theories of the video ontology proposals for a new generation authors in the UK, including Timothy Barker, Erika Balsom, Tamara Trodd and Maeve Conolly.
