Abstract

Cranial cruciate ligament rupture (RLCCr) is the major cause of lameness in dogs mainly in large breeds and obese animals, beeing parcial or complete. The incidence of cranial cruciate ligament injury (LCCr) is higher in senior animals, animals with anatomic abnormalities and imunomediated arthopathy. In younger animals, it occurs in breeds with slightly angled knees due to anatomic conformation. RLCCr is envolved in degenerative articular processes on the ligament itself not beeing commonly traumatic. LCCr injury causes instability to the joint resulting in additional diseases, such as meniscal tear and osteoarthrosis. Although there are several techniques available, ideal treatment for this orthopedic condition remains undetermined. Surgical approach is the most indicated to stabilization of femoral-tibio-patellar joint, and can be adressed by intracapsular, extracapsular and corrective osteotomies methods. The present study aims to evaluate the knee joint condition and its funcionality comparing different surgical techniques. Through this retrospective study, post surgical results will be compared on the different techniques used, by evaluating lameness, osteotomy consolidation time, owner satisfaction and post surgical complications.
