Abstract

This paper intends to assess the Poly-glu application as a coagulant in the water treatment process for supply, considering the factors that influence the coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation steps. The water treatment for supply is an important operation, since the quality of water used by population depends on it. The experiments will be done through bench jar test equipment. The pure ³-polyglutamic acid will be compared with the commercial product Poly-glu (Nippon Poly-glu), said efficient in water decontamination for human consumption. Under the operational aspect, the trials with coagulants will be executed, initially, in water from Salto de Pirapora Water Treatment Plant. Then, the experiments with Poly-glu and ³-polyglutamic acid will be realized with water collected from Rio Grande reservoir, situated in Billings complex. This experimental line will contribute to FAPESP Regular Support grant 2015/02650-8 execution.
