Abstract

Evaluate life habits of premature children is very important both to follow up the child development and to verify the effects of pediatric rehabilitation processes. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate and characterize the life habits of premature children 0-12 months, as well as is to compare premature children of different gestational ages (borderline, moderate and extreme) and compare their accomplishment with the children born at term. Twenty-four children born preterm (PT) and 8 children born at term (AT), all healthy and of both sexes will be evaluated. After the assent of the Research Ethics Committee and the approval of hospitals, children will be recruited. Prenatal, natal and post-natal data will be recorded from the information obtained at medical records of each child, so that the biological and environmental risk factors related with prematurity are identified. To evaluate the life habits will be used the Assessment of Life Habits - Brazilian version (LIFE-H_BR) in interview with parents or caregivers. Eleven domains will be evaluated and scored 0-9, with the highest score indicates better participation. Analysis of normality and homogeneity of data will be performed, since the data are normal, will be proposed the Student t test to compare the results of children AT and PT. This study may contribute to identifying possible differences in functionality of premature children and, thus directing intervention strategies.
